You will be aware from updated government guidance that the self-isolation period for close contacts of a positive case of coronavirus (COVID-19) has changed from 14 to 10 days. This change also applies to those who are currently self-isolating. Any new cases identified for self-isolation will be advised to self-isolate for 10 days.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION re Track and Trace
Please note that school will be open on Friday 18th December as planned, but please do not send your child to school if they are feeling unwell or have been in contact with anyone who is unwell and awaiting a Covid-19 test result. I ask for your full support in this matter as we try to prevent pupils and staff from being ill during their Christmas holiday.
Please inform school if your child has Covid-19 or a member of the family or close contact tests positive over the first few days of the Christmas holiday. If your child shows symptoms of Covid-19 within 48 hours of the end of the school term or tests positive for Covid-19 having shown symptoms within 48 hours of the end of school, you should report this to school immediately by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org so that we are able to contact anyone that has been in close contact with your child.
We will be operating our Track and Trace system up until the 24th December 2020.
We hope you have enjoy the latest issue of our children’s newsletter “Our Helmshore Home Heroes”, written by the teaching staff to praise and celebrate the amazing learning the children have been doing at home.

Thank you to all our families who have been joining in with our VE Day activities via Twitter – it is lovely to see all your efforts. We are trying to make this a special occasion where children in Care Club at school and families at home can connect with something together whilst we are apart. We would love to see some photos of your activities. Please share them on Twitter https://twitter.com/helmshoreschool or email them to school and we will be put them together to make a photo video compilation to share.
Helmshore School has never been so quiet and empty! We are all missing the children, the parents, the structure of a school day and lots of other things too.
Whilst the school is closed, we are hoping to stay connected with you via newsletters, updates on the school website and twitter page. They will of course be different from our usual ones but we hope that through them we can share positivity and the wellbeing in our school community and signpost practical help and support.
